RADAR (Regulating Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Racism) was a 24-month EU-funded project (2014-2016) led by the University of Perugia with 6 international partners, including Heriot-Watt. It aimed at developing an understanding of hate-motivated and hate-producing communication, as well as tools for distinguishing “racially motivated” hate crime. It started from the premise that when ‘racially’-motivated hate crimes are not recognised as such, this leads to a violation of fundamental human rights.
